A Quick Exercise for the Self: Finding Your Own Truth

Find a time when you can be alone. Place yourself close to a mirror and look yourself in the eyes. Complete both of the following phrases:

"I pretend that ______"

"The truth is _______"

Keep repeating the phrases and filling in the blanks as your face yourself. For example, "I pretend that I have a close relationship with my sister." And, "The truth is, I don't share most of my feelings with her." You can also do this exericse with your partner.. there are often surprising truths that emerge, with which you can build a stronger relationship. -- from the book, "How We Choose to be Happy"
